“who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers didn’t know; that he might humble you, and that he might prove you, to do you good at your latter end:”
What does Deuteronomy 8:16 mean?
God provided manna to the Israelites during their forty years wandering in the desert, a food so miraculous that their ancestors had never even heard of it. This provision wasn't just about keeping them alive, though, but about teaching them dependence and showing them what they truly needed versus what they thought they wanted. When we face seasons of scarcity or uncertainty, God sometimes uses those moments to strip away illusions and draw us closer to him, ultimately shaping us into people who are more resilient and more aware of his faithfulness. The "latter end" reminds us that God's longer view often includes blessings we can't yet see from where we stand.
