Deuteronomy 28:62
“You will be left few in number, even though you were as the stars of the sky for multitude; because you didn’t listen to Yahweh your God’s voice.”
What does Deuteronomy 28:62 mean?
God is warning Israel that if they turn away from Him, their population will dramatically shrink, despite the earlier promise that their descendants would be as countless as the stars. The "stars of the sky" refers back to God's covenant promise to Abraham, so this reversal would mean losing the very blessing that defined their identity as God's chosen people. The consequence isn't arbitrary punishment, but the natural result of rejecting the one who sustains and protects them. For anyone today, this speaks to how abandoning our connection to God leaves us spiritually depleted, stripped of the strength and abundance that comes from listening to His voice.
