Deuteronomy 2:9
“Yahweh said to me, “Don’t bother Moab, neither contend with them in battle; for I will not give you any of his land for a possession; because I have given Ar to the children of Lot for a possession.””
What does Deuteronomy 2:9 mean?
God is telling Moses that the Israelites should leave the Moabites alone during their journey to the promised land, even though they're passing through the region. The reason is that God had already assigned that territory to Lot's descendants (the Moabites) as their own land, so it wasn't theirs to conquer or take. This shows God's fairness in distributing land among different peoples, and it's a reminder that sometimes respecting others' boundaries, even when we're stronger, is part of following God's will. For the Israelites facing uncertainty in the wilderness, this was also a practical word: focus on where God is leading you, not on every land you encounter.
