Deuteronomy 16:14
“You shall rejoice in your feast, you, your son, your daughter, your male servant, your female servant, the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow, who are within your gates.”
What does Deuteronomy 16:14 mean?
God is calling his people to make their celebrations genuinely inclusive, bringing together everyone in their community regardless of social status or wealth. The list is deliberate and expansive—it moves from family members to hired workers to those with no family or home, making clear that joy shouldn't be reserved for the comfortable and secure.
