Deuteronomy 16:10
“You shall keep the feast of weeks to Yahweh your God with a tribute of a freewill offering of your hand, which you shall give, according as Yahweh your God blesses you.”
What does Deuteronomy 16:10 mean?
During the time of ancient Israel, the Feast of Weeks (later called Pentecost) was celebrated fifty days after Passover to thank God for the grain harvest. This verse invites people to bring an offering to God, not because they were forced to, but because they wanted to, and importantly, the size of the gift was meant to reflect what God had actually given them that year. There's something beautiful in this instruction: it connects gratitude directly to generosity. If God blessed you abundantly, you give more; if the harvest was modest, your offering matched that reality.
