What does Deuteronomy 11:16 mean?
Moses is warning the Israelites about a subtle spiritual danger: our hearts can drift toward false gods almost without us realizing it. The word "deceived" suggests this isn't usually a dramatic rebellion, but rather a gradual pull away from God that happens when we stop paying attention to what we truly believe and value. He's essentially saying that the things we worship (whether literal idols or the things we chase for fulfillment, security, or identity) shape our whole lives, so it matters deeply what we orient our hearts toward.
