What does Daniel 2:7 mean?
When King Nebuchadnezzar demands that his advisors tell him his forgotten dream (not just interpret it), they realize the task is impossible. Their response here shows both desperation and a practical appeal: they're asking him to share what he dreamed so they can at least demonstrate their interpretive skills.
