Daniel 10:16
“Behold, one in the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips. Then I opened my mouth, and spoke and said to him who stood before me, “My lord, by reason of the vision my sorrows have overtaken me, and I retain no strength.”
What does Daniel 10:16 mean?
Daniel has been having visions that deeply disturb him, leaving him emotionally and physically drained. When a heavenly messenger touches his lips (a gesture that enables him to speak), Daniel immediately expresses his fear and weakness, admitting he's been overwhelmed by what he's seeing. There's something deeply human in this response: rather than pretending to be fine, Daniel tells the truth about his struggle. This moment reminds us that encountering something greater than ourselves, or receiving difficult truths, can legitimately shake us, and that honesty about our limits is sometimes the first step toward healing and understanding.
