Colossians 3:11

What does Colossians 3:11 mean?
Paul is describing what happens when Christ becomes the center of a community: all the markers that divided people in the ancient world lose their power to separate us. Greeks, Jews, enslaved people, free people, "civilized" folks, and those considered rough or foreign—all these categories that once determined someone's worth or belonging simply don't matter anymore. The stunning claim here is that Christ himself becomes the identity that unites everyone. When you belong to Jesus, you're no longer primarily defined by your ethnicity, social status, education, or what others think of you. Instead, you're part of something that transcends all those old dividing lines. This doesn't mean those differences disappear or don't matter; it means they no longer determine your value or your place in God's family. In a church shaped by Christ's presence, there's room for everyone at the table.
