What does Colossians 2:18 mean?
Paul is warning the Colossians against false teachers who were mixing Greek philosophy and angel worship into their faith, claiming special spiritual knowledge that ordinary believers couldn't access. These teachers demanded extreme self-denial and rigid rules, dressing it up as humility, but Paul saw through it: their elaborate spiritual claims actually came from human pride and imagination, not from God. He's telling you not to let anyone convince you that real faith requires secret knowledge, extreme practices, or worshiping anything other than Jesus, because that kind of "spiritual superiority" is just ego wearing a humble mask.
