What does Colossians 2:11 mean?

Paul is describing something deeply spiritual that happens when you belong to Christ: you experience a kind of inner cleansing or separation from sin that goes far beyond any physical ritual. Just as circumcision was an outward sign of belonging to God's people in the Old Testament, there's now an inward transformation where your old patterns of selfishness and wrongdoing are cut away, not by human effort but by Christ's work in you. The beautiful thing here is that this isn't about performance or perfection, it's about being joined to Christ and having him reshape you from the inside out. Whether you grew up with religious rituals or have no religious background at all, Paul is saying the real change that matters happens in your heart and spirit when you trust Jesus.
