Amos 8:2
“He said, “Amos, what do you see?” I said, “A basket of summer fruit.” Then Yahweh said to me, “The end has come on my people Israel. I will not again pass by them any more.”
What does Amos 8:2 mean?
Amos is shown a simple basket of ripe summer fruit, and God explains that this ordinary image carries an urgent message: Israel's time of grace is running out. The fruit is ripe and ready to be harvested, just as judgment is now ready to fall on a nation that has turned away from God through injustice and false worship. This isn't a threat made in anger but a solemn announcement that God's patience has reached its limit, and the consequences of their unfaithfulness will no longer be delayed or overlooked.
