What does Amos 8:1 mean?
In a vision, the prophet Amos sees something that seems simple on the surface, a basket of ripe summer fruit. But God is using this ordinary image to communicate something urgent: just as summer fruit is at the peak of ripeness and about to spoil, Israel's time of opportunity is running out. The vision signals that judgment is near unless the people turn from their injustice and broken relationship with God.
