Amos 7:4

What does Amos 7:4 mean?
Amos is describing a vision of God's judgment coming like a consuming fire. In his prophecy, even the deepest waters dry up from the intensity of this judgment, and the land itself is threatened with destruction. The vision conveys how complete and unstoppable God's judgment can be when His patience with injustice reaches its limit. What makes this vision striking is that Amos witnesses it but then does something important: he responds by asking God to stop.
