What does Amos 7:3 mean?
In this moment, Amos has just seen a vision of God sending locusts to destroy Israel's crops, and he cries out in desperation: "Lord, please forgive—how can Jacob survive?" God hears his prayer and changes course, deciding not to send the plague. This reveals something tender about how God listens to our intercession, even when judgment seems set in stone. What's beautiful here is that Amos, a shepherd called to deliver hard messages, still pleads for mercy on behalf of the people he's been sent to condemn. His compassion actually moves the outcome.
