Amos 6:7
“Therefore they will now go captive with the first who go captive; and the feasting and lounging will end.”
What does Amos 6:7 mean?
When people build their lives entirely around comfort and pleasure, ignoring injustice and neglecting what matters spiritually, that foundation eventually crumbles. Amos is telling the wealthy people of Israel that their days of endless feasting and ease are about to end, and they'll be taken into exile along with everyone else. The prophet isn't being cruel, but realistic: a society that forgets God and tramples the poor can't expect to escape the natural consequences of that path. There's a sobering mercy in this warning, because it's also an invitation to wake up and change course before it's too late.
