Amos 6:3

What does Amos 6:3 mean?
The prophet Amos is calling out people who live in denial about coming judgment. They push away any thought that consequences might catch up with them, acting as if hard times are something that happens to others, not to them. Meanwhile, their own comfortable lifestyles are built on injustice and exploitation, even if they don't want to face that reality. This verse speaks to a very human tendency: we're skilled at ignoring warning signs when we're doing well. Amos is saying that this willful blindness doesn't actually protect us. In fact, the very systems we build on unfairness and harm are the ones that bring crisis closer, whether we acknowledge it or not. Sometimes we need someone to gently point out that looking away from a problem doesn't make it go away.
