What does Amos 3:2 mean?

God is telling Israel that being chosen for special relationship with him comes with serious responsibility, not just privilege. The foundation of their covenant wasn't earned—it was grace—but that grace also meant they were held to a higher standard of faithfulness and obedience. When we've been given much, more is expected of us, and turning away from God after experiencing his care feels the weight of that broken trust. This verse reminds us that closeness to God isn't a free pass; it's an invitation to live differently, and there are real consequences when we ignore that calling.
