Amos 3:14
““For in the day that I visit the transgressions of Israel on him, I will also visit the altars of Bethel; and the horns of the altar will be cut off, and fall to the ground.”
What does Amos 3:14 mean?
God is announcing that when He holds Israel accountable for their unfaithfulness, He won't spare their religious centers either. The altars at Bethel, where people were making empty sacrifices without genuine repentance, would be destroyed—symbolized by the horns of the altar being cut off and broken. Those horns were where people touched the altar seeking refuge and forgiveness, so their destruction meant that place of supposed safety would offer no real protection. The point is tender but firm: going through the motions of worship while living contrary to God's values doesn't shield us from His justice, and outward religious practice can't substitute for a heart genuinely turned toward Him.
