What does Acts 4:28 mean?
This verse captures something that troubled many early believers: if God already knows what will happen, how much are we really choosing? The disciples were reflecting on Jesus's arrest and death, recognizing that these painful events had somehow been part of God's plan all along, yet the people who caused them still made real choices. The point isn't that God puppeteered everyone like marionettes, but rather that God's purposes are so certain and deep that they work through human freedom, not against it. Even when people acted with anger and selfishness toward Jesus, God's larger redemptive plan moved forward. That's strangely comforting when you're facing hardship: you can trust that God isn't caught off guard, and He can work toward good even through circumstances that feel chaotic or wrong.
