Acts 3:21
“whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God spoke long ago by the mouth of his holy prophets.”
What does Acts 3:21 mean?
Jesus has ascended to heaven, but this isn't permanent isolation from us, Peter tells the crowd. Instead, heaven is holding him there temporarily, like a pause before the final chapter, until God brings about the complete renewal of all creation that the ancient prophets promised. It's a profound hope embedded in these words: everything broken, everything corrupted, everything that causes suffering will one day be restored to what God always intended. The prophets spoke of this restoration long before, and it's not some new idea but something woven through Scripture all along.
