What does Acts 3:17 mean?

Peter is speaking to the crowd in Jerusalem just after Jesus's resurrection, acknowledging that those who called for Jesus's death may not have fully understood what they were doing. He's offering them a kind of spiritual mercy, suggesting that their actions came from darkness rather than malice. This doesn't erase what happened, but it opens a door: if they acted without understanding, they can now choose differently with the truth revealed to them. Peter's words carry both gentleness and an implicit call to change direction, inviting people to step into the light rather than remain in ignorance.
