Acts 3:16
“By faith in his name, his name has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which is through him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.”
What does Acts 3:16 mean?
Peter is explaining to the crowd what just happened: a man who had been crippled from birth suddenly walked and leaped. Peter makes clear that this healing wasn't magic or Peter's own power, but came through faith in Jesus. The man's restoration came not just from belief in general, but specifically from trust in who Jesus is and what he can do. What Peter emphasizes here is that real transformation comes through connection to Jesus, not through impressive words or grand gestures. The faith mentioned isn't blind or passive, either. This man had to receive what was offered to him, to get up and walk when Peter reached out his hand. Sometimes when we're waiting for God to move in our lives, we miss that we're being invited to participate, to take the step of faith even when we're not sure we can manage it yet.
