What does Acts 16:3 mean?
Paul's decision here shows practical wisdom about how to reach people effectively. Timothy's mother was Jewish and his father was Greek, making him ethnically Jewish by that tradition, yet he'd never been circumcised. Paul knew that Jewish communities in that region would be immediately skeptical of an uncircumcised man traveling as a teacher about Jesus, so he had Timothy circumcised to remove that barrier to their hearing the gospel. It wasn't about saving power residing in the act itself, but about not letting cultural resistance block the message Paul wanted to share. Sometimes loving people means adapting in ways that don't compromise what matters most, just to create space for genuine conversation.
