Acts 14:15
““Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to the living God, who made the sky, the earth, the sea, and all that is in them;”
What does Acts 14:15 mean?
Paul and Barnabas had just healed a lame beggar in Lystra, and the crowd wanted to worship them as gods. In this moment, they urgently stop the people and remind them that they are ordinary humans with the same struggles and needs as everyone else, not divine beings worthy of worship. The apostles redirect all that spiritual hunger toward the actual God, the Creator of everything, inviting people to turn away from the emptiness of idols and false gods toward relationship with the one true living God. It's a beautiful picture of humility in faith, and a reminder that our passion for God should never be mixed with the worship of people, possessions, or anything else that can't ultimately save us.
