What does Acts 11:17 mean?
Peter is defending his decision to welcome non-Jewish believers into God's family, and he's wrestling with something that shook his whole understanding of who belonged with God. He realized that the Holy Spirit had come upon these outsiders with the same power and presence that came to the Jewish disciples at Pentecost, so how could he possibly say no to them? This is Peter admitting he could have blocked them out, could have insisted they weren't "really" part of God's people, but he caught himself.
