2 Timothy 1:8
“Therefore don’t be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but endure hardship for the Good News according to the power of God,”
What does 2 Timothy 1:8 mean?
Paul is writing to his young friend Timothy from prison, and he's being honest about how that might feel awkward or embarrassing. Following Jesus sometimes means standing with people others reject, and it can cost us socially or personally. But Paul reminds Timothy (and us) that when we're faithful to God's message, we're not actually standing alone, because God's power sustains us through whatever hardship comes. This isn't about being reckless or seeking suffering. It's about not letting fear silence us when it matters, and trusting that the strength we need comes from God, not from public approval. If you're in a season where living out your faith feels costly or lonely, this verse quietly promises you're held by something far bigger than the discomfort around you.
