What does 2 Thessalonians 1:5 mean?
Paul is writing to Christians who are being persecuted, and he wants them to understand that their suffering isn't meaningless or a sign that God has abandoned them. Instead, he sees their endurance through hardship as evidence that God's judgment is fair and true, because it shows that they're choosing to follow Jesus even when it costs them something real. The harder path they're walking is actually demonstrating their worthiness for God's Kingdom, not disqualifying them from it. This isn't Paul saying suffering automatically makes you righteous, but rather that when you stay faithful despite genuine hardship, it becomes a visible proof of what you believe and who you've committed your life to.
