What does 2 Samuel 22:2 mean?

David is describing God using images of absolute protection and security. A rock doesn't move or crumble when pressure comes against it, and a fortress is built specifically to keep enemies out and inhabitants safe. By calling God his "deliverer," David is saying that when he's trapped or in danger, God is the one who breaks him free. What makes this personal and powerful is that final phrase, "even mine"—David isn't speaking about God in general terms, but claiming this protection as his own lived experience. He's saying: this isn't just theology; this is my God, and I have experienced his faithfulness directly.
