What does 2 Corinthians 8:13 mean?
Paul is encouraging the Corinthian church to give generously to help Christians in Jerusalem who are facing hardship, but he wants them to understand the purpose: the goal isn't to exhaust some believers while making others comfortable. He's describing a kind of fairness where sharing flows naturally between communities, and nobody gets left holding an empty cup while others have plenty. This is less about rigid equality and more about genuine mutual care where those who have something to give do so, and those who give generously know they're part of a family that will support them when they're the ones in need.
