What does 2 Corinthians 7:10 mean?
There's a real difference between two kinds of sadness, and Paul is pointing us toward the one that actually heals. Godly sorrow is the kind that comes when you recognize you've hurt someone you love or acted against your own values, and it moves you to genuinely change. That sorrow leads somewhere good: it opens the door to real transformation and peace because you're not stuck in the shame anymore. The other kind of sorrow, the one the world offers, is just regret and self-punishment that loops endlessly without producing anything but more pain. If you're sitting with hard feelings right now, it matters to notice which kind you're experiencing. Is something pushing you toward change and reconciliation, or is it just grinding you down? The first kind, however uncomfortable, is actually a gift.
