2 Corinthians 5:21
“For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
What does 2 Corinthians 5:21 mean?
God took our sin, our brokenness, everything that separates us from him, and placed it on Jesus at the cross even though Jesus himself was completely innocent and pure. In that exchange, something remarkable happens: when we trust Jesus, his perfect standing with God becomes ours, and we're restored to a right relationship with our Father that we could never achieve on our own. It's not that we become good enough through our own effort, but rather we're clothed in Christ's own righteousness, accepted fully because of who he is rather than who we are.
