“We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”
What does 2 Corinthians 5:20 mean?
Paul invites us to see ourselves as God's representatives in the world, carrying the message that broken relationships with God can be healed. When he says God is "entreating by us," he means that when we speak about reconciliation, it's almost as if God himself is making an appeal through our words and presence. The urgency in "we beg you" isn't about manipulation or pressure, but reflects how deeply God cares about mending what sin has damaged between us and him. This gives real weight to how we live and speak: in everyday moments, we're showing others what it looks like to be at peace with God, and inviting them into that same peace.
