What does 2 Chronicles 6:8 mean?

God affirms David's pure intention even though He won't let David physically build the temple, instead assigning that work to David's son Solomon. What matters most to God here isn't the completed building project, but the genuine desire in David's heart to honor Him. This reminds us that God values our sincere longings to serve Him and recognizes the love behind our intentions, even when circumstances prevent us from carrying out our plans exactly as we imagined. Sometimes what we accomplish matters less than who we become and what we truly desire in our deepest places.
