What does 2 Chronicles 25:8 mean?
This verse comes from King Amaziah of Judah, who was about to fight a much larger army. When a prophet warned him against hiring mercenaries from Israel, Amaziah worried about losing the money he'd already paid them. The prophet's response cuts to something deeper: what matters isn't earthly resources or military advantage, but whether God is with you. The king is being told that if he's committed to doing what's right, he should move forward with courage, trusting that God's power far exceeds any human calculation. But there's also a warning embedded here: God can just as easily work against you if you're not aligned with what he's called you to do. It's an invitation to step forward confidently in faith, not because the outcome is guaranteed to match your desires, but because you're choosing obedience over fear.
