What does 1 Timothy 6:8 mean?
Paul is reminding Timothy (and through him, the early church) about a simple truth many of us forget when we're caught up in wanting more. If we have what we need to survive—food to eat and clothes to wear—we actually have enough to live well. The word "content" here means genuinely satisfied, not just resigned or gritting our teeth through lack. This doesn't mean ambition or having nice things is sinful, but rather that our peace shouldn't depend on accumulating beyond our basic needs.
