What does 1 Timothy 3:13 mean?

When we faithfully serve others, something shifts inside us. We develop a kind of spiritual confidence, a deepened trust in God's goodness that makes it easier to live out our faith openly, without shame or fear. Paul is saying that this isn't a reward God gives reluctantly, but a natural fruit of the work itself: serving well strengthens our own relationship with Christ and our sense of belonging in his community. This matters especially when you're tired or wondering if your small acts of service actually matter. They do, not because you're earning points with God, but because showing up for others has a way of anchoring your own faith more firmly. You discover through serving that God is trustworthy, and that becomes your "good standing," your solid ground.
