What does 1 Thessalonians 3:9 mean?
Paul is expressing something almost too big for words: his gratitude to God for the Thessalonians is overflowing. He's saying that no amount of thanks could ever match the deep joy he feels when he thinks of them and their faith, especially knowing how much they've grown despite persecution. This letter was written to a young church facing real hardship, so Paul's joy here isn't naive happiness.
