What does 1 Samuel 29:9 mean?
Achish, the Philistine king who had taken David in as a refugee, genuinely trusted him and valued his character. Yet David faced rejection anyway, not because of anything he'd done wrong, but because the other Philistine leaders didn't trust him and refused to let him fight alongside them. It's a poignant moment where personal approval doesn't protect you from institutional doubt, and where being vouched for by one person isn't always enough when others hold power over the decision.
