What does 1 Samuel 22:2 mean?
When David was running for his life from King Saul, he wasn't gathering an army of warriors or the kingdom's elite. Instead, broken people found their way to him: those crushed by circumstance, those drowning in debt, those angry at how life had treated them. These weren't society's success stories, yet David led them and they became loyal to him. There's something profoundly hopeful here. David didn't turn away the desperate or demand they get their lives together first. He welcomed them as they were, and in that acceptance, they found purpose and belonging.
