What does 1 Samuel 16:6 mean?
When Samuel the prophet first meets Jesse's sons, he notices Eliab, the oldest, and immediately assumes this tall, impressive-looking man must be God's chosen future king. It's a very human moment, showing how easy it is to judge by outward appearance and miss what actually matters. Samuel hasn't learned yet (though he's about to) that God sees something completely different than we do, and what looks right to us might be exactly wrong in God's eyes. The next verse makes this explicit: God cares about the heart, not height or handsome features, which is why the real anointed one turns out to be young David, the overlooked shepherd boy nobody thought to bring to the meeting.
