What does 1 Samuel 15:15 mean?
Saul is making excuses for disobeying God's clear command to destroy everything belonging to the Amalekites. Instead of taking full responsibility, he blames the people and tries to justify keeping the best animals by claiming they were meant as a sacrifice to God. It's a painful moment where someone caught in wrongdoing attempts to reframe their disobedience as pious, when really they just wanted to keep valuable things. The prophet Samuel will soon confront him with the truth: God values obedience far more than any offering we might bring, no matter how sincere it looks on the surface.
