What does 1 Samuel 13:10 mean?
Saul had grown impatient waiting for the prophet Samuel to arrive and offer a sacrifice before battle, so he'd done it himself—something only a priest was supposed to do. The moment Saul finished this unauthorized offering, Samuel showed up, catching Saul in the act. When Saul went out to greet him warmly, he was already in trouble, though he didn't yet realize it. This captures a painful human moment: we make a choice in our anxiety or hurry, then immediately face the consequences.
