1 Samuel 10:14

Saul’s uncle said to him and to his servant, “Where did you go?” He said, “To seek the donkeys. When we saw that they were not found, we came to Samuel.”

What does 1 Samuel 10:14 mean?

When Saul's uncle asks where he's been, Saul gives a straightforward answer about his search for the lost donkeys and how that led him to the prophet Samuel. What's interesting is that Saul leaves out the most significant part of the story, the private anointing by Samuel that marked him as Israel's future king. This moment captures something very human: sometimes we keep the deepest spiritual experiences to ourselves, not yet ready to fully explain them to others. Saul's selective honesty reminds us that our relationship with God often unfolds privately long before it becomes public, and that's okay.
