1 Peter 3:12
“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears open to their prayer; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.””
What does 1 Peter 3:12 mean?
God's attention is always turned toward people who are trying to live right and seeking Him in prayer, and He listens when they call. At the same time, His opposition is firmly set against those who choose to do harm, and that resistance will ultimately catch up with them. Peter is reassuring his readers (many facing persecution) that God sees what's happening to them and hasn't forgotten about them, while also reminding them that evil doesn't go unnoticed or unpunished. The image of God's eyes and ears being "on" the righteous speaks to intimate care and responsiveness, while His face being "against" those doing evil means He stands opposed to their actions and will hold them accountable.
