What does 1 Peter 1:17 mean?
When you come to God as your Father, you're approaching someone who judges everyone equally, without favoritism or bias. That should change how you live right now, in this present world where you're really just passing through. Living with reverent fear means taking seriously the fact that your choices matter to God, not out of terror, but out of deep respect for someone who sees and knows everything about you, and loves you enough to care how you live. This hits especially hard for people who've experienced injustice or felt overlooked by those in power. Peter is reminding his readers that unlike human leaders who play favorites, God's judgment is perfectly fair. That's comforting and sobering at once: you can't hide behind connections or wealth, but you also can't be forgotten or undervalued in God's eyes.
