What does 1 Kings 22:26 mean?
King Ahab has just heard a prophecy he doesn't like, so he's ordering the prophet Micaiah to be arrested and imprisoned. He's giving him over to the city governor and his own son, presumably to keep him locked up while the king goes off to war anyway. This moment reveals what happens when someone in power hears truth they don't want to hear: instead of listening, they silence the messenger. Micaiah had just warned the king that his military plans would end in disaster, but Ahab preferred the comfort of false reassurance from his other advisors.
