What does 1 Kings 22:25 mean?
Micaiah, a prophet of God, is pronouncing judgment on Ahab, the king of Israel. The king had just rejected Micaiah's warning about a battle and struck him across the face, and now Micaiah responds with words of humiliation: Ahab will eventually find himself fleeing in fear, hiding away in an inner room rather than standing as a leader. It's a stark picture of how refusing truth and punishing those who speak it leads to shame and loss of dignity. The prophecy came true when Ahab was mortally wounded in battle and had to be propped up in his chariot before dying (verse 35).
