What does 1 Kings 19:2 mean?
Jezebel, the powerful queen of Israel, has just learned that the prophet Elijah called down fire from heaven and defeated her favored prophets. Furious and humiliated, she sends word that she'll hunt him down and kill him by the next day, using the strongest oath formula she knows. What's striking here is that despite Elijah's incredible victory and God's clear power, one angry threat from a human ruler sends him fleeing into the wilderness in terror. This moment shows us something true about the life of faith: experiencing God's power doesn't automatically protect us from fear or discouragement when we face real opposition. Sometimes the aftermath of a spiritual victory is when we feel most vulnerable, and that's when we need to remember we're not alone.
