“If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is God’s testimony which he has testified concerning his Son.”
What does 1 John 5:9 mean?
When you believe someone's account of what they've seen or experienced, you're accepting their witness as true. John is saying that God's testimony about Jesus carries infinitely more weight than any human account ever could, simply because God is the source of all truth and cannot deceive or be mistaken. He's encouraging people who might feel uncertain about Jesus to recognize that what God says about his Son is the most reliable evidence there is.
